So the internship has been getting much more in-depth lately. I've been learning a ton about the cameras and how to use things like zoom, white balance, gain and focus. It's really great to be working with one of the best photographers at abc27 (Eric Heisler) because he has so much experience with different shots and stories it really makes my eyes widen when he knows just the right thing to do with the camera to make it work perfectly. Not only is he really good at producing strong shots and focal points, but he's an amazing editor and putting together video packages for him is simply second nature now.
Anyway, in case you weren't aware, there was a large fire that happened on King street in Shippensburg at a local lumber store. It was pretty serious considering there we more than three firetrucks and plenty of police cars surrounding the fire itself. We drove to Shippensburg as fast as we could and it was really a rush getting footage so close to a fire like that. Overall the experience was something that really struck me and made me realize how intense this job could really be. I'm only getting more interested in doing this kind of work now!
So I asked Eric what he thought about me sending in my resume to abc27 to which he encouraged. Although there are no entry-level jobs open right now, there should be some opening up in the future. But I'm going to hand my resume to Joe (the chief photog) and keep in touch with Eric/Joe for awhile after graduation, hopefully waiting for a job to open up (usually a Production Assistant for entry-level).
Anyway, that's pretty much it for this week before I go into the station tonight at 12! Hope that's a good enough update.
